VSTS / TFS 2010 Beta 2 now available

clock October 19, 2009 18:30 by author Svante

Microsoft has now made the Beta 2 of VSTS 2010 available for download from MSDN. I have been waiting for these bits for some times and hopefully some issues in Beta 1 are now resolved and we have someting that is functionally close to what will be released later on.

The bits are downloading as I write these words and I hope to have a VPC image up and running TFS later tonight.

There are a number of things on the to do list now:

  • Make sure that the "new" EssUP process template loads ok
  • Create a TFS backend for the EssUP dashboard. The idea is to have one single work item type that keeps all the 8 root alpha states. I intend to create the backend as a WCF Service Application
  • Get our "hose keeper" up and running. The house keeper will be another WCF service that listens to TFS events and performs some, ta-da, house keeping task
  • Make sure that our template works well with the Excelbased agile planning tools
  • Make sure that Reports works as they should
  • Get a sharepoint template set up that integrates the EssUP dashboard

Between customer assignments that should keep me busy for a while.

I will let you know how things proceed.

So here we are, BlogEngine.Net seems to be up and running and hopefully there will be something interesting to write about going forward.

Setting up BlogEngine.Net on my hosting provider, DiscountASP.Net, was easy enough. Some of the instructions available are a little bit confusing regarding setting privileges etc. All I did was to copy over the BlogEngine.Web files to a subdirectory  and then I used the DiscountASP.Net control panel and made the directory a web application. It seems to work ok so far.

Going forward my intention is to use BlogEngine.Net for most things on this web site. We will see how that goes.
